Music Monday: The Test

"I'm seeing waves breaking form to my horizon,
Yeah I'm shining.
I'm seeing waves breaking form to my horizon,
Lord, I'm shining. "

I am often occasionally asked by my students if I own, or listen to, music on an iPod or MP3 player. They are always surprised when I reply in the negative.

Truth is, when I first began running about four years ago, I did wear an inexpensive MP3 player loaded with selected tune-age from Limewire on longer runs, the prevailing though being that it would make the long runs go by more quickly. After a short period of time, I realized that I did not want the time to go by too quickly, but rather that I sought to enjoy the moments and environmental sounds as they came up. That is not say that I don't, on occasion, have songs running through my head, even when I am not literally running myself.

The Chemical Brothers are one duo that I have long enjoyed, and it is not unusual during the course of a 10+ miler or when I am just walking th3e halls at school to have any number of their tunes pop into my head...

Breathe in, breathe out… YOU AND I ARE ALIVE!
